DURHAM FURNITURE EXPANDS OCCASIONAL CATEGORY FOR OCTOBER HIGH POINT MARKET
DURHAM, Canada – Durham Furniture will add three new solid wood occasional collections and three unique consoles to its product assortment at the upcoming October High Point Market. The new groups will be showcased – along with five existing occasional groups – in a dedicated area of the Durham showroom, located at G1082 in the International Home Furnishings Center.
“This Market we are devoting a much larger area of our showroom to our occasional product line,” said Luke Simpson, president and CEO of Durham Furniture. “To support our new collections and our focus on this product category, we are revamping the way we merchandise our showroom. This fall, all of our occasional products will be featured in living room vignettes with sofas, loveseats and chairs to better highlight the functionality of each piece.”
The company’s solid wood occasional product assortment includes cocktail and end tables, lamp and sofa tables, writing desks, entertainment credenzas, hall chests, storage benches and multifunctional console tables. Many of the groups are available in more than 40 finishes, which provides customization options for consumers, and a competitive advantage for the company in a highly competitive space. Highlights of the occasional products this fall include:
Dundy Occasional Collection: The six-piece Dundy Occasional Collection is named after the skilled craftsman who developed the lathe knives used for manufacturing its impressive turned legs. Highlights include a round cocktail table that is characterized by four decorative turned legs, which support its 38-inch diameter top and bottom shelf and a console table, with unique turned stretcher base offering multifunctional use as a sofa table or writing desk.
Saugeen Occasional Collection: With a bit of a retro mid-century design styling, the six-piece Saugeen Occasional Collection is characterized by its uncluttered sleek lines and geometric forms. Each 1-1/4-inch thick solid maple table top rests on linear bases that are connected by two stretchers.
Classic Foundry Occasional Collection: The Classic Foundry Occasional Collection features an overall architectural style that is achieved by its distinctive table apron detail and multi-faceted, angled legs which are anchored by square block feet. Each of the five tables has an open bottom shelf for additional storage.
Each of the three new groups are crafted of solid maple and available in more than 40 custom finishes. In addition, many of the pieces are available in a choice of a solid wood top or an inset glass top, increasing the overall pieces in each collection. The glass tops are offered in three complementary accent finishes that are applied to the underside of the glass, adding additional interest to the group.
In addition to the three occasional groups, the company is also adding three unique consoles to its occasional product line. The versatile pieces, at 70 inches wide, are scaled to accommodate flat screen TVs or for use as display or serving pieces. Available in more than 40 custom finishes, the group offers three distinctive storage options which define each piece, including an open and airy eight-shelf design with single center drawer, a more traditional six-shelf design with two doors and a unique asymmetrical design that combines open shelving with door storage and a single drawer.
